Great Customer Support

I know there have been reviews regarding the microphone stopping work after a short time. I want to share my experience. I purchased this item in July 2021 and used it to create web videos for my online course. It suddenly stopped working. I contacted customer support and they walked me (via email) through troubleshooting. It turned out the problem was the device cable and the mic worked when I switched it out for another cable. The company shipped a replacement cable to me and the unit works fine. Their email response was very quick.

A solid beginner microphone for anyone

As a streamer/gamer/content creator, I started with the Blue Yeti & HyperX Quadcast for the past four years. Both of these are middle of the pack pricing in the $100-$200 price range, and then FIFINE sent me the K683A in exchange for an honest review of the product. If I were back to the start again and thinking about the overall cost of content creation between the hardware and software, the money adds up, especially with PC/Gaming systems increasing in price due to the material supply and demand throughout COVID-19. I'd say this microphone would be solid for $50, but I know that the HyperX Quadcast was available on Black Friday for $79, and to me this is a superior upgrade to this kit. If we're looking at needing a microphone immediately and waiting until a deal exists, this is a solid choice. If you're able to get by until a Blue Yeti/HyperX Quadcast/Shure microphone goes on sale to upgrade an existing setup to it, I'd recommend checking that personally because the value difference between this microphone at $50 and those at $75-$150, it may be well worth it depending on your current setup/needs. Overall, FIFINE was smart to create not just this microphone, but three to choose from depending on if you need an all-in-one setup that can be plug-and-play on the go, if you need a boom arm for a desk setup in one standard location for creation, or if you really care about the RGB appeal (it is pretty sweet for streaming on camera but completely unnecessary). If you're trying to limit costs on an overall creator rig for PC/Laptop, this would be a solid way to start. If you need to improve the audio quality, there are free software options that allow you to audio engineer the way it sounds. There's way smarter people in this space that create presets and make it easy for people like me to do some research, find the programs and the presets, and then set it up and the microphone sounds 3x better without any additional costs. I use Equalizer APO, and there's tons of tutorials on how to use it. Hope this helps you make a confident choice :)

Good sounding mic for the money.

Excellent sound quality for this price range. The gain control and mute button as added features are a nice touch.

K683A FAQs

Question 1: I'm comparing the k683-a to the k-670 for voice over video game recording. are they the same except for the usb cord, stand, and the pop filter?
Answer: Except these parts, the K670 hasn't a mute button like K683A. For sound quality, K670 is biased towards the bass, while K683A is slightly fuller and natural.

Question 2: Can I not listen to my computer with my external speakers and use this mic at the same time? If not, when I talk I hear myself often.
Answer: If you don't want to hear your voice with external speakers while you speak to the mic, please disable the monitoring function under your recording software, and if you're using Windows computer, you will need also disable the " Listen to this device" under your computer sound setting.

Question 3: I have a soft quiet voice. Will it pick up my voice okay?
Answer: As long as you’re speak into the side of the microphone where the volume control is (around 5 inches), and turn up the mic volume with the knob on the mic AND from the sound setting of your computer, it should work.

Question 4: Can you connect this to a Nintendo switch since it has a usb c?
Answer: Sorry no, it doesn't work with Nintendo switch.

Question 5: Is there a separate boom arm available for this mic?
Answer: The K683A package included a 3/8" to 5/8" adapter. So you can screw it onto any standard boom arm stand by using the included 3/8" to 5/8" adapter. You can choose the best selling one within your budget. Or you can just purchase the T683.

FIFINE K683A Type C USB Mic with A Pop Filter, A Volume Dial, A Mute Button & A Monitoring Jack for Recording

The on-body controls are keeping everything in check

A Volume Control

Spin the volume wheel left or right whenever you get the response about your voice being too soft or too loud from the audience of a game streaming, podcast episode or web conferencing. It is far from a mind-blowing feature, but you just do not have to ask everyone to wait and then pull up a config. panel on your computer to make an adjustment, which sounds rather tricky and time-consuming already.

Low-latency Monitoring

You may not have a clear idea what's the point of the combination of a volume dial and a low-latency monitoring jack. But when doing a voice-over or vocal recording all by yourself, you would have to count on your own ears to hear if the level goes wrong or not. And a headphone jack that provides much less delay is far more useful than a computer 3.5mm jack.

A Mute Button

How to cope with the abrupt coughs or sniffs that make listeners uncomfortable could make or break your broadcast show. A quick mute button then comes as a life-saver. Silence yourself at a stroke before others become unbearable of the noise and leave your online chat room. And with a LED indicator of working status catching your eyes, you will hardly make any mistake to spoil the show.

How many Aces are still up the sleeve?

A Dual-layer U-shaped Pop filter

With the custom-made shield popped on, you can see through the microphone, but the air-blowing will not have a chance to hit straight on the capsule anymore. The point of such sort of protection is to reject the distracting plosives and sibilance. It is a quite crucial part to get some clean sounding, especially for a sensitive condenser mic. The U-shaped pop filter also adds a sense of aesthetics and presence, lifting it from the $50 range.

USB-A Combo USB-C Output

You probably will not see the included 3 feet long detachable cable as something cheers you up. But the party piece comes in right after, a 2-in-1 USB audio cable!

Confectioner image

USB Type-C Connector

It is always troublesome and annoying to find the right adapters from a bunch of those. You can not think of anything more convenient than building different connectors right into the microphone cable. So you can keep the overall simplicity by using this K683A with your Macbook Pro.

And the user-friendly design does not stop there. For those who have their Android or iPhone as an on-the-go recording device, this USB external will handle that job well. And because of the compact but all-metal body, it can easily be the most promising contender for your next trip-recording.

It is one mic to rule laptops, PCs, game consoles and mobiles. You are going to love this type of vibe!

USB Type-A Connector

USB type-A is still one of the mainstream ports on PCs and Play Station. That means the easy connection has not changed a bit when you have to start your normal workflow at home or office.

Plug the type-A end of your K683A into a Windows, Mac, Linus or even a Play Station console (incompatible with Xbox); confirm it to be the default input and output under the system sound setting and you're up and running!

  • Peel away the pop filter, there is a 16 mm capsule looming through the metal mesh top. The size is not even close to the standard of a proper big diaphragm microphone, but it is 2 mm larger than the generic USB models. The larger the area for capturing sound, the more details and the more engaging audio you are going to hear. Plus the calibration for the high-end clarity, the application such as podcasts or voice-over that you need most of that spectrum can be pulled off with ease.
  • The K683A has a 24 bit rate and an up to 192K Hz sample rate. But to be brutally honest, those specs of a budget microphone are more of a marketing than a game-changer. Especially the higher-than-normal sample rate is not possible to be perceived by our ears. It is just not a bad thing when such features come as standard.
